Ukraine launched its largest drone assault on Moscow since Russia's full-scale invasion began, setting the city's main oil refinery ablaze for the second time in a week and blanketing the Russian capital in thick black smoke.

Waves of Ukrainian drones hit the Kapotnya oil refinery in Moscow's southeast on Thursday morning, sending smoke and flames rising over the city. It appeared to be the largest Ukrainian attack on the capital since the Kremlin invaded its neighbour more than four years ago.

At least 194 drones targeted Moscow, disrupting airport operations and forcing the closure of several major roads in and around the city. Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed its defences destroyed some 555 Ukrainian drones in total across multiple regions overnight.
