Democrats have won control of the House of Representatives, taking it from Republicans. NBC News, CNN and CBS News called the House for Democrats on Tuesday night, after Decision Desk HQ projected the result shortly after 9pm ET.
NBC News expects Democrats to finish with about 248 seats, 30 more than the 218 needed for a majority. AP calls control only once it has called 218 races for one party, and had not yet done so.
Republicans went into the election holding 218 seats to Democrats' 214, with one independent and two vacancies, in the House Clerk's count.
