The human toll since 7 October 2023
Gaza. By the numbers.

Behind these figures · the recorded names of the dead
Every figure below is a floor, not a total
These counts include only deaths the Ministry of Health can connect directly to an act of war. The morgues stopped keeping pace in late 2023. The true toll is higher.
It never flattens
Cumulative confirmed deaths, day by day, since 7 October 2023. The pale bands are the truces and ceasefires. Watch what the line does inside them.

The counted and the named
A place, taken apart
The toll is not only human. The homes, hospitals and schools of Gaza were dismantled around the people who needed them, a pattern the UN's special rapporteur on housing calls domicide.
Every mark is a child
20,179 children have been confirmed killed. The number will not stay in your head. The field below is the same number, one mark for every child.

Adjudicated, not alleged
The record on this page is not only counted. It has been put before courts, and the courts have spoken. This is what stands on the legal record.
The genocide never stopped
Ceasefire coverage let the world look away while the killing, the siege and the starvation continued. This film puts the numbers on screen. The full report beneath it keeps the receipts.

The counts refresh automatically from the Tech for Palestine open dataset, which compiles Gaza Ministry of Health releases for Gaza and UN OCHA figures for the West Bank. When the live feed cannot be reached, the page shows the last figures it held, dated, and flags them as such.
The names drifting behind the headline figure are drawn, unaltered, from the Ministry of Health's register of the identified dead, published through the same dataset. Each visit draws a different set. They are shown because a number this size hides what it counts.
Tech for Palestine states plainly that its datasets do not fully reflect the toll of the genocide. Bodies under rubble, the unidentified, and deaths from siege, starvation and collapsed healthcare are undercounted or absent. Read every figure here as a confirmed minimum.
The photographs woven among the names are free-to-use and carried with their makers' credit: Ashraf Amra for UNRWA (CC BY-SA 3.0 IGO, via Wikimedia Commons), Mohammed Ibrahim (Unsplash licence), and Hosny Salah (Pexels licence). Nothing appears without provenance.
Figures that no live feed carries, such as confirmed famine deaths, are set editorially against named sources and dated; they appear only once sourced.
The headline counter can be carried on any site. Copy this and the number keeps itself current:
