Ronaldo Salgado voted on 19 October, the first day of early voting in Texas, then pressed his "I Voted" sticker onto the plywood memorial on Canal Street in Houston where an ICE agent shot his father dead in July. By the end of October more than 1,000 voters had stuck theirs beside it.
On Election Day voters in Minneapolis did the same at the memorials to Renee Good and Alex Pretti, two U.S. citizens shot dead by federal agents in January, and blanketed them in stickers. At Pretti's memorial they covered his photographs, a plywood whistle and a lamp post.
Voters built these tributes themselves, with no group or hashtag behind them. Monica Gomez, who grew up in Houston's East End, brought her sticker to Canal Street after she saw a video of other people leaving theirs.
