The Crust News app is on Google Play from today, the first time anyone can install it without an invitation. It is free. You can find all our reporting, Crust News in the app as it is on the site, with the things a phone can do on top: breaking news notifications you choose by topic and the Wire live feed to get your news faster than almost anywhere else.
The daily games, work amazing on Android, and home-screen widgets for the crucial parts of the Crust News experience. Users can also save articles to read offline, and the newest articles save offline automatically.
We've also added a way for users to report ICE incidents, as well as look up ICE agents and ICE vehicles.
Open the menu and the ICE List button sends footage, photos and plate numbers straight to the ICE List, the public record of ICE and CBP agents, vehicles and incidents kept by the Crust News team, and looks up any agent or vehicle already on it.
Apple pulled ICEBlock from the App Store in October 2025 after Pam Bondi's Justice Department asked it to, and Google removed Red Dot from the Play Store the same week, saying apps that carry sightings of immigration officers break its policies. Google said it had removed "similar apps" too. A year on, the Crust News app is one of the few things on the Play Store with a working way to report ICE in it.
It is not a sightings map. What you send goes to the ICE List's volunteer reviewers and reports remain anonymous. Masked agents, unmarked cars and the plates on them are what the record is built from, and our count of deaths in ICE custody and the register of people deported to their deaths both rest on records built the same way.
We plan on expanding the ICE List area of the app in the next update, including a widget for your homescreen. An iPhone app follows after that.
If you would rather not use Google, the same app is in our own F-Droid repository.
