Daniel Siad, a 69-year-old French modelling scout accused of supplying young women to Jeffrey Epstein, was found dead at his home in Colombes, west of Paris, on the night of Monday 20 July. The Nanterre prosecutor's office announced the death on Wednesday, said it had opened an investigation into the cause, and ordered an autopsy. No manner of death has been established. He had been under investigation in France over his links to Epstein but had not yet been questioned.

He was one of several French men accused of helping Epstein find and abuse women, and the record against him is well supported.

His name appears, by the count of the news agency that first reviewed them, in more than a thousand of the Epstein documents the U.S. Justice Department released in January, most of the mentions being email correspondences. The released emails run from 2009, a year after Epstein's conviction for a sex offence, to 2019, which is to say Siad was still corresponding with a registered sex offender a decade on.
