The US-led Board of Peace has announced a pilot zone in southern Gaza, to be built at Tel Sultan near Rafah, planned to be the first of many. The plan is to move unarmed Palestinian civilians, once vetted for affiliation with Hamas, onto the Israeli-controlled side of the yellow line, where troops would pull back and a yet-to-exist international force would secure the perimeter.
It is described as a humanitarian zone, a model for separating civilians from the group, a way of loosening Hamas's grip on the population. The U.S. and Israeli regimes are painting it as some form of "shelter", when it appears to be a way of masking the concentration camps that had been planned.
