The ceasefire is over according to U.S. President Trump. The authoritarian said so on Wednesday in Ankara, sitting beside NATO's secretary general at the alliance summit, hours after the USA bombed more than eighty targets across Iran. He called Iran's leaders scum and the negotiations a waste of time. The truce he signed three weeks ago is finished, and the men who ordered the bombing did not pretend it was self-defence.
US Central Command said it had completed a round of strikes targeting 80 sites in Iran after three tankers were damaged in the Strait of Hormuz. Not one of those ships lost a crew member. One US official told CNN the response was not proportional. Another used a shorter word, punishment.
