Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen again. Thirty-three per cent of Americans approve of the job he is doing and 66 per cent disapprove, the lowest reading of either of his terms in the Washington Post, ABC News and Ipsos poll, taken from 9 to 13 October. More than half the country, 52 per cent, strongly disapproves. The figure is about eight points lower than a year ago.

He was already the most unpopular president on record at this point before a midterm. No president since scientific polling began in the 1930s has gone into a midterm this far underwater, not George W. Bush in 2006 and not Richard Nixon in late 1973, the only president at any stage whose numbers compare. Trump sits around 22 to 24 points net negative in the Silver Bulletin average, which hit yet another all-time low at the weekend.
