A Harris County grand jury on Friday indicted ICE agent Mario Alberto Morales, 33, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for driving his SUV into Miguel Parra Hernández during an immigration raid in west Houston on 10 October. Parra, who was on foot and doing stucco work when he was hit, was left with injuries to his hip, leg and ankle, including a broken leg.
Security footage shows an unmarked vehicle jump a median and swerve into Parra's path. District Attorney Sean Teare, who reviewed video from local businesses and bystanders, said: "This was an intentional striking and running over of the person by the vehicle, and in that case, that is an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas." ICE said Parra "ran in front of an ICE vehicle and was struck", and called the accusation that he was hit on purpose "reckless" and "false".
